Symec are pleased to announce a partnership with Waterhouse  – a company who create custom charging accessories for mobile devices across specialised verticals.

This partnership has been formed as both Symec and Waterhouse have delivered significant projects into the rail industry including the likes of Arriva and Abellio.

Adrian Lawson, Managing Director says: “This represents a fantastic opportunity for Symec.

The unique company, creates custom charging accessories– including a wireless charging holster - the V1. One of the biggest issues mobile workers face is battery length on shift (knock on effects). For many field-based workers it can be near impossible to charge their device whilst working.

As the rail industry digitises many of its procedures, ensuring that a device is operational is of the upmost importance.

Although this project began to solve a problem in the rail industry – Volt are now working in some specific key verticals, including: Engineering, Construction, Energy and Utilities, Aviation.

Ryan Thomson, Managing Director of Waterhouse, says: “This is a fantastic opportunity for Waterhouse and Symec.”

For Waterhouse, it all started with trying to fix the mobile battery issue in a way no one else had ever done before. No wires, no need to initiate the charging and no bulky cases attached to the device.

  • No wires – avoids major health and safety concerns
  • No bulky cases – device remains light and no unnecessary weight.
  • Place device into holster will immediately begin charge – no buttons.
  • Extends the useful life of a sealed device (where battery cannot be replaced in-field).

The V1 holster requires no additional input or adaptation from the user so that it would seamlessly integrate into their daily working routine.

The holster

The V1 Smart Holster is incredibly easy to use – just slide your device in to begin charging.

The V1 increases the uptime of mission critical mobile assets which monitors and manages processes, ensuring maximum productivity.

Working with any modern phone that natively supports Qi wireless charging (or any non-QI device enabled with a Symec wireless boot), the unique intelligent charging system senses when a phone has been placed inside and begins charging it automatically. There are no buttons and it requires no operational changes.

The Symec lead on this -  Ben Cowell, Senior Account Manager, says: “Having introduced the V1 holster to a number of our key clients, the feedback has been hugely positive.”

“With Waterhouse's willingness to customise the product and implement wireless charging into uniforms and many other items – it can really solve one of the long-standing mobility challenges.
